Shortie
When the waves are small, but steep, you want a short board to make them fun... but you still need to be able to get onto the wave. The smaller board with an extremely skatey feel to it turns beach breaks and small points into a real playground.
The Shortie is packed with volume in the center of the board. This allows you to turn and sink the board in a downward thrust, and then literally eject out of the water onto the wave with not much more than a kick. The deck crown then drops of radically through the S rails which are defined and low volume so you can dig and drive through the turns.
The bottom concave it carried from between the feet all the way into the very tip of the tail creating lift under the back foot so its hellishly loose. In fact, its almost startling how loose the board feels the first time you get it going. And you’ll definitely take some unexpected wipeouts the first day you ride it - we did.
Overall the Shortie is magic. It swims faster than you’d think, is faster on the wave than you’re expecting, and is just a joy to surf.
