Wave Surfing Classes

2-Day “Learn-to-surf” Classes

This standard beginner class is 2 consecutive days. This is without a doubt our best class, and gives you the time it takes to be capable of learning enough to return to the wave afterwards and easily surf alone. This class is targeted towards people who have already decided that they want to learn to surf, and are willing to put the time in to finish the class with the ability to return afterwards and be able to surf alone in safety with the necessary knowledge to progress. Over 90% of our students who take this class are successful and return to surf afterwards on their own, as part of the surfing community.

We offer Morning and Afternoon classes on alternate weekends.

The Morning class meets at 8am at the shop. By 8:30 the class begins at the river, and runs until 10:30am. A 90min break is taken to relax and eat. Bring yourself a light snack. From 12pm until 2pm you return to the water. Day 2, we meet at the wave at 8:30 and follow the same schedule, finishing at 2pm, and returning to the shop to finish the day at about 2:30pm.

The Afternoon class meets at the shop on day 1 at 12:30pm. By 1pm we start the class at the river and runs until 3pm. A 90min break is taken to relax and eat. Bring yourself a light snack. From 4:30pm until 6.30pm you return to the water. Day 2, we meet at the wave at 10:30 am and follow the same schedule, finishing at 4:30pm, and returning to the shop to finish the day at about 5pm.

1-Day Beginner Classes

This class is targeted to show people what surfing is all about. The goal is not so much to teach the specifics of surfing (which takes 2 days) but rather to show you a good time, and give you a good idea of what surfing is about. Unless you are a natural athlete,  it is extremely difficult (and unrealistic) to expect to learn everything there is to know in just 1 day, and be able to return alone and surf in safety with the necessary knowledge, but this class is a lot of fun and everyone who takes it enjoys themselves.

The 1-day class follows the same schedule as the 2-day class except that we need an 30 extra minutes at the end of the course to return to the shop and get everything back.

2hr Initiation Classes

Our 2hr "Initiation" classes are targeted to get you out on the water, enjoy the river environment, and of course, to teach you as much as we can about surfing. While the 2hr class is often not enough to really master learning-to-surf, it is certainly enough to get you started, and it is a whole lot of fun! Despite the reduced time, our teaching methods are such that a high percentage of students learn enough to get the basics. Many are hooked, and take the 2nd day class afterwards. It’s just too much fun!

The class meets at the designated time at the shop. This varies and the time we meet at the shop is noted on the calender. Thirty minutes later, the class begins at the river, and runs for about 2 hours, before returning to the shop, finishing about 30 mins after the class ends at the river.

Private Lessons

We offer private surf lessons for those who's schedules really do not fit into our group classes, or for experienced ocean surfers who simply require an hour or two of lesson to understand the differences between the two sports. Many of our group lesson students also return to take private lessons to improve their surfing skills as they progress.

Jet Ski Tow-in Surfing

We offer Jet Ski surf tours in the Lachines for surfers looking to optimize their surf time out in those rapids, or who want to surf waves like Mavericks which cannot be swum onto. This is for intermediate and up level surfers.
